The WIDIA 5879135 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in professional machining applications. Built in the I4S series, this single-end mill features a 5/32 inch (0.1562 inch) cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. Four helical flutes at a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The TiAlN coating adds heat resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life during high-speed operations in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Right-hand cutting and flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC and manual milling setups. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry when needed.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Its compact 5/32 inch diameter makes it appropriate for fine-detail slotting, profiling, and contouring operations in dies, molds, and precision components. The straight 3/16 inch shank fits standard collet and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. A regular-length configuration keeps the tool rigid for standard-depth passes without excessive deflection.
Designed for use in standard collet-style end mill holders with a 3/16 inch bore, compatible with CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary materials include hardened materials, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the straight shank firmly in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to prevent premature tool wear or breakage.
