The WHITE-RODGERS 03L05 002S1 is a snap disc limit control designed to protect heating equipment from overtemperature conditions. It operates with an open-on-rise switch action, cutting in between 175 and 215 degrees F. When the sensed temperature rises to the set point, the disc snaps open to interrupt the circuit. The control is rated for 120/240 VAC service, with a full load rating of 14A at 120 VAC and 10A at 240 VAC, and a resistive rating of 25A at both 120 VAC and 240 VAC. HVAC technicians install this type of limit control as a safety device in furnaces, duct heaters, and similar forced-air heating systems.
This snap disc control is suited for residential and light commercial heating applications where an automatic or manual-reset high-limit function is required. Typical installations include gas and electric furnaces, unit heaters, and duct heating assemblies where overtemperature protection is a code or equipment requirement. The open-on-rise action means the switch opens the control circuit when temperatures exceed the cut-in threshold, removing power from the burner or heating element to prevent equipment damage or unsafe operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement snap disc limit control for residential and light commercial gas or electric heating equipment requiring open-on-rise overtemperature protection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the heating system before removing or installing the limit control. Ensure the disc makes full contact with the mounting surface for accurate temperature sensing. Follow all applicable local codes and manufacturer wiring diagrams when reconnecting the control circuit.
