The WALTER-TITEX 8221640 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Built from solid carbide grade WJ30ET and coated with a multi-layer TiSiAlCrN and AlTiN finish, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in tough materials. It features a 180-degree flat bottom point, a whistle notch shank with a 0.3937-inch shank diameter, and an overall length of 3.5039 inches. The 11/32-inch (0.3437-inch decimal) diameter and 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it well suited for short, precise holes where rigidity and accuracy are critical. Licensed HVAC, mechanical, and industrial trades use this bit on CNC equipment and drill presses alike.
This drill bit is designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the tip, supporting deeper cuts and chip evacuation in difficult workpiece materials. With a maximum drilling depth of 0.8780 inches and a flute length of 1.2598 inches, it is optimized for screw machine length applications where stub-length rigidity is required. Series DC118-02-A1 identifies it within the WALTER-TITEX solid carbide drill family.
Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys as stated by the manufacturer. Whistle notch shank requires a compatible tool holder or drill chuck rated for 0.3937-inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure spindle speed and feed rate are set per tooling manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut. Verify coolant-through supply is active and at adequate pressure before drilling to prevent premature tool wear or breakage. Do not use this bit in handheld drills; it is intended for rigid machine tool setups only.
