The WALTER-TITEX 7684272 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. It measures 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 8.819 inches (224 mm) and a flute length of 7.087 inches (180 mm). The bit features a 140-degree split point and a TiSiAlCrN coating that provides heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.394 inches (10 mm) in diameter and 1.575 inches (40 mm) in length. This bit is part of the Series DC160-16-A1 and carries an h7 diameter tolerance for precision bore work. It is installed by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This extra length drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments requiring deep-hole capability in tough materials. The 16xD flute-to-diameter ratio allows a maximum drilling depth of 6.496 inches (165 mm). Rated for use in alloy steels, titanium alloys, glass, and graphite, the 7684272 handles blind hole, cross hole, inclined hole exit, and stack drilling operations. Two right-hand flutes support efficient chip evacuation in these varied entry and exit conditions. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or mist lubrication should be applied at the cutting zone during extended operations.
The 7684272 is compatible with primary workpiece materials including alloy steel and titanium alloy, with secondary capability in glass and graphite. It is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar spindle equipment accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.394 inches (10 mm) diameter. It falls under Series DC160-16-A1 from WALTER-TITEX.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide cutting tools. The machine spindle and tool holder should be fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Verify shank runout and holder concentricity prior to operation, as carbide tooling is sensitive to lateral loading. Do not apply excessive feed rates on entry or exit to prevent chipping of the carbide cutting edge.
