The WALTER-TITEX 7378518 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. It features a 140-degree split point, a dual-layer AlTiN and TiSiAlCrN coating for heat and wear resistance, and a right-hand cutting direction. The 0.2717-inch diameter and 3.5830-inch overall length make it suited for precision hole-making in production and maintenance machining environments. The Series DC160-05-A0 geometry delivers consistent performance at depths up to 1.6930 inches, reaching a 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, tooling technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with CNC or manual drilling equipment.
This drill bit is engineered for use in blind hole, cross hole, inclined hole exit, and stack drilling applications. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron (material code K) and steel (material code P), making it well suited for general metalworking, fabrication shops, and production drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.3150-inch diameter accepts standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, so external flood or mist coolant is the recommended cooling method in high-duty-cycle operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection within the WALTER-TITEX DC160-05-A0 series, compatible with any drilling setup accepting a 0.3150-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drill bit size range 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches applications in cast iron and steel workpieces.
Install and remove this drill bit only while the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and concentrically in the chuck or collet before tightening to manufacturer-specified holding force. Since this bit does not support internal coolant delivery, ensure adequate external coolant flow or mist cooling is applied during operation to prevent thermal damage to the coating and cutting edge. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
