Product Description

The WALTER-TITEX 7378085 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. It carries a 0.1496-inch (3.80 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree split point angle for fast, accurate starts without center-punching. The TiSiAlCrN/AlTiN multi-layer coating supports extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. Two regular spiral flutes with coolant-through capability help clear chips and manage heat at depth. At 2.598 inches overall length, this stub-length bit fits standard drill chucks and screw machine setups where clearance is limited.

This drill bit is suited for production drilling and precision hole-making in steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The screw machine (stub) length format provides rigidity and reduced runout, making it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes where short-reach tooling is required. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.2360 inches diameter fits standard ER collets and Jacobs-style chucks without adapters. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.669 inches, consistent with the 3xD flute-by-diameter ratio of this series.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction (grade WJ30ET) for rigidity and wear resistance
  • TiSiAlCrN/AlTiN multi-layer proprietary coating extends tool life in abrasive materials
  • 140-degree standard point angle reduces thrust and improves hole entry accuracy
  • Coolant-through design helps evacuate chips and control cutting temperature
  • Stub screw machine length (2.598 inches OAL) provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits
  • Compliant with DIN and ISO standards; diameter tolerance m7

Compatibility

Designed for use with standard straight-shank collet chucks, ER collet systems, and Jacobs-style drill chucks accepting a 0.2360-inch shank diameter. Intended for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per the Series DC160-03-A1 Universal Advance application range.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify collet or chuck bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the specified grip length. When using coolant-through capability, confirm the machine's coolant delivery pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the spindle before starting the cut.
