The WALTER-TITEX 6618715 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. At 7/16 inches (11.11 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split point, it delivers clean entry and accurate hole positioning without a center punch in many setups. The TiNAl coating extends tool life by reducing heat buildup at the cutting edge. With an overall length of 6.417 inches and a flute length of 4.488 inches, this bit is proportioned for the reach and chip evacuation demands of production drilling. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in shop or field environments.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. It supports blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications, making it well-suited for aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining work. The coolant-through design feeds cutting fluid directly to the tip, which is critical when drilling superalloys and titanium where heat control directly affects tool life and hole quality. The Series DC150-08-05 designation places it in a specific Walter product family optimized for an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with coolant-through toolholding systems. Compatible with workpiece materials coded K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), P (steel), and S (superalloys and titanium) per ISO material classification. Meets ANSI and ISO standards for jobber length drill geometry.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck, ensuring full shank engagement to the specified depth before applying cutting load. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is set per machine and toolholder specifications before drilling superalloys or titanium. Never exceed the maximum drilling depth of 3.780 inches (96.00 mm) as specified for this tool.
