The WALTER-TITEX 6618656 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized at Letter E (0.2500 inches / 6.35 mm) with a 140-degree drill point angle and a TiNAl (titanium aluminum nitride) coating. It is designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials including cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cut geometry make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and drill presses. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during deep or high-cycle drilling operations. It belongs to Series DC150-08-A1 with a grade designation of WJ30TA, targeting production and precision machining environments.
This drill bit is suited for both blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications across industrial, aerospace, and general metalworking settings. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 2.165 inches (55.00 mm), making it appropriate for moderate-depth production holes where carbide rigidity and coating durability are required. Machinists and CNC operators working with superalloys or titanium will benefit from the TiNAl coating's heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The bit ships individually and is commonly used in job shop and production floor applications.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups that accept a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes K, N, P, and S cover cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and fully stopped. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and properly torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before running. Verify coolant-through lines are open and delivering adequate flow before beginning a drilling cycle. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material grade being machined.
