The WALTER-TITEX 6618397 is a solid carbide jobber drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built to Series DC150 standards, it features a 0.4250-inch diameter, a 140-degree point angle, and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-heat cutting conditions. The whistle notch shank and right-hand spiral flute configuration provide positive drive engagement and efficient chip evacuation. With an overall length of 4.6457 inches and a flute length of 2.1250 inches, this drill delivers a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio suited to both blind hole and stack drilling operations. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance trades requiring tight-tolerance drilling.
This drill is engineered for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It supports coolant-through operation, making it well suited for deep blind-hole work where chip packing and heat buildup are concerns. Stack drilling applications benefit from the stable 140-degree point geometry, which reduces walking and maintains positional accuracy across multiple layers. The 0.4720-inch shank diameter and 1.7720-inch shank length are sized to fit standard collet and chuck toolholding systems common in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Designed for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metal, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Compatible with standard toolholding systems accepting a 0.4720-inch shank diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance trades familiar with drill press and CNC machining center operation. Secure the whistle notch shank firmly in the appropriate collet or chuck to prevent slippage during high-torque cutting. Ensure coolant lines are clear and flow is confirmed before beginning coolant-through drilling cycles. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and replace the drill if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
