The WALTER-TITEX 6618372 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance hole-making in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The bit features a 140-degree point angle with a proprietary point geometry, a TiAlN (TiNAl) coating for heat and wear resistance, and through-coolant capability to extend tool life in demanding applications. With a 0.3480-inch cutting diameter, 0.3940-inch whistle notch shank, and an overall length of 4.0551 inches (103.00 mm), this is a precision-ground tool intended for CNC machining centers and production drilling environments. It is part of the DC150 series and rated to a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
This drill is suited for blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations in production and job-shop settings. Its regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard CNC spindles and conventional drill presses where solid carbide tooling is appropriate. Primary workpiece material codes cover K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), P (steel), and S (heat-resistant alloys). The whistle notch shank seats securely in collet-style and hydraulic tool holders typically used in machining operations.
Designed for use in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material codes K, N, P, S). Suited for blind hole and stack drilling applications in CNC machining environments. Shank diameter of 0.3940 inches is compatible with collet chucks and hydraulic holders sized for that bore. Part of the WALTER-TITEX DC150 series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state per facility safety procedures. Verify that the tool holder bore matches the 0.3940-inch shank diameter before seating the whistle notch. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for feed rate and spindle speed based on workpiece material. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.7500 inches (44.45 mm) without retracting to clear chips, particularly in blind hole operations.
