The WALTER-TITEX 6618353 is a jobber-length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a TiAlN coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures and a 140-degree split point that reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. The whistle notch shank provides positive drive engagement in compatible tool holders. At 3.5827 inches overall length with a 1.475-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid drill suited for tight-tolerance work. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician is the primary end user.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium — covering a wide range of production and maintenance machining scenarios. The DC150 series is engineered for both blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations, making it a practical choice in job shop, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports adequate chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. Internal coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid delivery directly to the tip for improved chip flushing and heat management in high-production setups.
Designed for use with tool holders accepting a 0.315-inch whistle notch shank. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium as stated in the DC150 series specification. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Verify shank seating and set screw torque per the tool holder manufacturer guidelines before running. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm coolant supply lines are connected and flow is verified before beginning the cut.
