The WALTER-TITEX 6618344 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in high-speed cutting environments. It measures 0.266 inches in diameter with an overall length of 3.583 inches (91 mm) and features a 140-degree split point for accurate self-centering entry. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for deep or blind hole operations where heat management is critical. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill bit is engineered for blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations across a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys and titanium. The whistle notch shank diameter of 0.315 inches (8 mm) is compatible with standard collet and chuck toolholding systems. Its TiAlN coating maintains hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making it well suited for production runs and difficult-to-machine alloys. The Series DC150 designation identifies it within the WALTER-TITEX carbide drill platform built to ANSI and ISO standards.
Rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys and titanium (workpiece material codes K, N, P, S). Designed for use in toolholding systems accepting a 0.315-inch (8 mm) whistle notch shank. Sized within the 0.250 to 0.300 inch drill bit diameter range per Series DC150 specifications.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling setup. Ensure the spindle and coolant supply are fully de-energized before loading or removing the bit from the toolholder. Confirm collet or chuck runout is within tolerance before cutting, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the specific workpiece material being drilled.
