The WALTER-TITEX 6618314 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 0.177 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2.913 inches (74 mm) and a flute length of 0.885 inches (22.48 mm). The bit features a TiAlN coating that extends tool life when cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials at elevated temperatures. With a 140-degree point angle and a right-hand spiral flute, it produces clean, accurate holes in a range of workpiece materials. The whistle notch shank provides secure seating in compatible toolholders. This bit is suited for use by machinists and tool-room professionals in CNC and manual drilling setups.
The 6618314 is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is engineered for both blind-hole drilling and stack drilling applications where consistent depth control and chip evacuation are critical. The DC150 series designation places it in a line built for 5xD depth-to-diameter ratios, making it appropriate for production environments with moderate-to-deep hole requirements. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operation and helps manage heat in difficult materials such as superalloys and titanium. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries an ISO specification designation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses with toolholders that accept a 0.236-inch (5.99 mm) whistle notch shank. Rated for primary workpiece material codes K, N, P, and S, corresponding to cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys and titanium.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine tool operation. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify the toolholder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and confirm that coolant supply lines are open and flowing at the correct pressure before beginning a coolant-through operation. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated depth-to-diameter ratio for the material being drilled.
