The WALTER-TITEX 6618102 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. With a 0.25 inch (1/4 inch) diameter and a 140-degree split point, this bit delivers accurate entry and reduced thrust in tough ferrous materials. Three spiral flutes provide efficient chip evacuation over a 0.75 inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Part of the DC150-03-A0 series, this bit carries a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and is built to DIN and ISO standards for consistent dimensional control.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling operations on cast iron and steel workpieces in both shop and field environments. The screw machine length format — shorter overall length for rigidity — makes it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling rigs where stub-length tools are preferred. Typical users include machinists, maintenance mechanics, and industrial tradespeople working with ferrous metals requiring close-tolerance hole geometry.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces; suitable for use with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the DC150-03-A0 series size range of 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with cutting tool safety practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout within acceptable limits. Power down and de-energize the machine completely before changing tooling. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material; this bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so adequate external coolant or lubrication should be applied when drilling steel.
