The WALTER-TITEX 6618082 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in ferrous and hard materials. Built to the DC150-03-A0 series standard, this bit features a 140-degree drill point angle and a 3-flute spiral configuration that improves chip evacuation and hole finish compared to standard 2-flute designs. The straight-cylindrical shank provides reliable chuck retention in standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 0.189 inches (4.80 mm) diameter, it is sized for close-tolerance work and carries a m7 diameter tolerance. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians working with cast iron, steel, and similar ferrous alloys are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is suited for production machining and precision fabrication environments where screw machine length tooling is specified. The shortened overall length of 3.0 inches increases rigidity and reduces deflection at the cutting edge, making it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, screw machines, and drill presses where depth control is critical. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 0.567-inch maximum drilling depth position this bit for shallow, accurate holes in steel and cast iron workpieces. No coolant-through capability means it is intended for external coolant application or dry-cutting applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling for screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses accepting straight-cylindrical shank drill bits in the 0.150 to 0.200 inch (3.50 to 5.00 mm) diameter range, consistent with DC150-03-A0 series specifications.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading from misalignment. Follow applicable machine and shop safety codes when establishing feed rates and spindle speeds for the workpiece material.
