The WALTER-TITEX 5057257 is a screw machine length cobalt-vanadium high speed steel drill bit engineered for demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 9/64 inch (0.1406 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 2-1/16 inches and a flute length of 25/32 inches, this bit is built for short-reach, high-torque drilling in tight setups such as turret lathes and screw machines. The 130-degree split point reduces walking and cutting pressure on entry. A parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, and the web-thinned, tapered web configuration keeps thrust loads manageable on harder workpiece materials. Rated as a high-performance universal bit, it meets DIN and ISO standards.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. Screw machine length bits are commonly used in production machining environments where stub-length rigidity matters, including CNC turret operations, manual drill presses, and hand-held power drilling into structural metals. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for both dry cutting and standard flood coolant applications where coating compatibility is a concern. Right-hand cut geometry fits standard chuck configurations.
Designed for use in screw machines, CNC turret lathes, drill presses, and hand-held power tools with standard straight-shank chucks. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. Part of the WALTER-TITEX Series A1148 product family.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout before beginning a production run. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing bits. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when handling and operating cutting tools. Confirm the bit diameter tolerance of -0.00071 to 0.00000 inches meets the hole tolerance requirements of the job before use.
