The WALTER-TITEX 5057217 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from cobalt and vanadium high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit delivers rigidity and heat resistance needed when working through hard materials. The 130-degree split point reduces walking and allows for clean entry without a center punch in many setups. At 0.252 inches in diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank, it is sized for use in standard chucks and screw machine setups. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary installers.
This bit is engineered for universal tool performance across a broad range of workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. The parabolic flute geometry at a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life during repeated drilling cycles. The overall length of 2-3/4 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 0.800 inches make it suited for short-reach, high-production drilling operations typical in machine shops and fabrication environments. It conforms to DIN, ISO, and BS standards.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks and screw machine spindles. Suitable for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. Part of the WALTER-TITEX Series A1148 product line.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians using standard drill press, CNC, or screw machine equipment. Ensure the workpiece is firmly secured and the spindle is at a complete stop before bit changes. Confirm chuck and collet clearances are appropriate for the 0.252-inch shank diameter before use. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so adequate surface-applied cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless steel or other hard materials at sustained feed rates.
