The WALTER-TITEX 5057118 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from cobalt vanadium high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it is engineered for universal tool performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The bit measures 0.0709 inches in diameter with an overall length of 1-13/32 inches and a flute length of 7/16 inches. A 130-degree split point angle reduces walking at entry and lowers thrust requirements. The parabolic flute geometry with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip evacuation. Web thinning with a tapered web configuration further improves cutting action at the tip. This bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where compact stub-length tooling is required.
The 5057118 is intended for drilling cast iron, hardened materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. Its screw machine length profile makes it a practical choice for applications requiring rigidity and minimal deflection in short-reach drilling operations. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without modification. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance mechanics commonly select this bit for production drilling where material hardness and chip control are primary concerns. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 0.3000 inches (8.00 mm).
Part of the WALTER-TITEX Series A1148, this bit is compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank. It is designed for use across cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces as noted in the product specifications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill chuck tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck is properly tightened before beginning any drilling operation. Work-holding fixtures should be secure to prevent workpiece movement, particularly when drilling hard or stainless steel materials. Cutting speed and feed rate should follow manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material and machine setup.
