The WALTER-TITEX 5057099 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from cobalt and vanadium high speed steel, it delivers superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The bit measures 0.055 inches in diameter, wire gauge size 54, with an overall length of 1.25 inches and a flute length of 0.3438 inches. A 130-degree split point reduces walking on entry and decreases thrust requirements. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep or interrupted cuts. This bit is intended for machinists, tool and die technicians, and production drilling operations.
The 5057099 is suited for screw machine length drilling in a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. Its universal tool performance rating makes it appropriate for both light production runs and precision hole placement in fabrication or repair scenarios. The short screw machine length provides added rigidity when drilling in a drill press, CNC, or screw machine spindle. Maximum drilling depth is 0.200 inches per pass.
Designed as a Series A1148 screw machine length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals per manufacturer specifications.
Install and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool technician with the spindle fully powered down and the machine locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the appropriate clamping torque per the machine manufacturer guidelines. Run speeds should be set according to published HSS cobalt feeds and speeds charts for the specific workpiece material. Never exceed the maximum drilling depth of 0.200 inches without retracting to clear chips, particularly in blind-hole applications.
