The WALTER-TITEX 5057085 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from cobalt and vanadium high speed steel, this bit handles hard materials, stainless steel, cast iron, steel, and non-ferrous metals without sacrificing edge integrity. At 0.096 inches in diameter (wire size No. 41), it delivers precision entry with a tight diameter tolerance of -0.00055 to 0.000 inches. The 130-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements. A parabolic flute geometry with web thinning evacuates chips efficiently, making it a reliable choice for machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with short-depth holes.
This bit is suited for screw machine operations, production drilling, and bench work in both shop and field settings. The screw machine length format provides a stiffer, more controllable tool compared to jobber-length bits, particularly useful when drilling into hard or work-hardening materials such as stainless steel or cast iron. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power tools. Maximum drilling depth is 0.400 inches, making it appropriate for shallow through-holes and countersink prep in tight clearance zones.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel per manufacturer specification for Series A1148.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool operators familiar with cutting tool safety. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the drill chuck or collet is properly tightened before operation. When drilling stainless steel or cast iron, use appropriate cutting fluid to manage heat and extend tool life. Replace the bit if visible chipping, dulling, or diameter wear is detected, as a worn bit increases the risk of workpiece damage and breakage.
