The WALTER-TITEX 5057060 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from Cobalt Vanadium High Speed Steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit handles cast iron, stainless steel, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and general steel. It measures 2-5/32 inches overall length with a 7/8-inch flute length and a 0.166-inch (Wire Size 19) diameter. The 130-degree split point and parabolic flute geometry reduce thrust, improve chip evacuation, and deliver clean entry without walking. Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. Intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in production or job-shop environments.
This bit is suited for screw machine operations, manual drill presses, CNC drill units, and hand drilling applications where a short, rigid geometry is preferred. The screw machine length provides greater rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice when drilling in tight spaces or when minimizing deflection in hard or abrasive workpiece materials. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, hard alloys, non-ferrous metals, and carbon steel. The parabolic flute design at a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip clearing in deeper holes up to 0.600 inches depth.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-use screw machine drill bit for standard straight-cylindrical chuck systems. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and carbon steel per Series A1148 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow shop safety protocols when drilling hard or abrasive materials. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.600 inches for this bit geometry without retracting to clear chips.
