The WALTER 8133015 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VCGT-MN2 series, designed for precision single-point cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the VCGT331-MN2 WN10 industry standard designation and the ISO code VCGT160404-MN2 WN10. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a positive rake angle of 25 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a sharp cutting edge style. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius, it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface quality are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back turning applications on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass, as well as super-alloys and titanium. The WN10 grade and MN2 chip breaker geometry are optimized for material grades N10 and S10, making this insert well-suited to aerospace, automotive, and precision machining environments where these workpiece materials are common. The uncoated bright finish preserves sharp edge integrity, which is especially important when cutting gummy or abrasive non-ferrous materials at higher surface speeds.
Designed for use in VCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders that accept a 35-degree diamond insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thickness, and 0.1730 inch hole diameter, per ANSI and ISO VCGT331 seating standards. Compatible with material grades N10 and S10 per the WALTER grading system. Multi-use designation confirms suitability for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to seat the insert securely in the toolholder pocket - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under improper clamping. Verify insert orientation and edge index before resuming cuts, and confirm correct tool offset entry in the machine controller after each insert change.
