The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70MD228 is a Dash 228 O-ring manufactured from Buna-N (nitrile butadiene rubber) with a 70 Shore A durometer hardness rating. It measures 2.234 inches inner diameter, 2.5 inches outer diameter, and 0.125 inches thick with a round cross section. This elastomer is the most widely used O-ring material in the trades, offering excellent resistance to petroleum-based fluids, strong compression set performance, and solid tear and abrasion resistance. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fluid-system mechanics use this seal in hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel-line applications. Each package contains 5 rings.
This O-ring is suited for sealing applications in residential and commercial systems where petroleum-based fluids, oils, or fuels are present. Typical install scenarios include pump housings, valve bodies, hydraulic fittings, and plumbing connections where a 2.234-inch ID bore seat is required. The working temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F makes it appropriate for both refrigeration-adjacent and moderate-heat fluid systems. Buna-N is not recommended for exposure to ozone, direct sunlight during storage, or environments near motors and other equipment that generate ozone.
Designed as a standard Dash 228 O-ring replacement for any groove or bore seat requiring a 2.234-inch ID, 2.5-inch OD, 0.125-inch cross section seal in petroleum-compatible fluid systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or hydraulic system mechanics during pump, valve, or fitting service. Shut down system pressure and depressurize all lines before removing the old seal. Lightly lubricate the O-ring with a compatible petroleum-based grease prior to seating to reduce installation stress and risk of tearing. Do not store unused rings in direct sunlight or near motors, ozone generators, or other electrical equipment that may degrade the elastomer.
