The UBIQUITI UF-SM-PATCH-UPC-APC is a single-mode fiber optic patch cord designed to connect UPC (Ultra Physical Contact) and APC (Angled Physical Contact) terminated fiber runs. It serves as a jumper cable between optical network equipment, media converters, patch panels, and fiber distribution frames. The UPC-to-APC configuration bridges two common connector standards found in structured cabling and fiber-to-the-premises installations. Licensed network technicians and low-voltage cabling professionals typically handle installation as part of UFiber passive optical network deployments.
This patch cord is suited for single-mode fiber optic networks in both residential and commercial settings. It is commonly used in FTTP, FTTH, and PON infrastructure where equipment ports or patch panels use differing polish types. Typical applications include connecting an APC-terminated distribution frame to UPC-terminated active equipment ports, or bridging mixed-connector environments in optical distribution frames and service entry points.
Designed for use with single-mode fiber optic equipment accepting UPC and APC connector types, including UFiber-series optical network units and related passive optical network hardware.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage or fiber optic cabling technician familiar with optical connector handling and cleanliness requirements. Fiber end-faces should be inspected and cleaned before mating to prevent insertion loss and back-reflection issues. Power down or disable the optical transmitter on the active equipment before connecting or disconnecting patch cords. Follow applicable TIA-568 and local structured cabling standards for fiber termination and bend-radius requirements.
