The TRU-MAXX 66253255466 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, making it a standard fit for most bench and pedestal grinders in that size class. The wheel uses an aluminum oxide abrasive grain with a vitrified bond and carries a J hardness code, placing it in the medium hardness range. It is rated to 3600 RPM maximum operating speed. Grain structure is 6, and the abrasive is semi-friable, meaning it fractures at a controlled rate to maintain a sharp cutting edge through the grind cycle. Machinists, toolroom techs, and maintenance grinder operators are the primary installers and users.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding applications in job shops, toolrooms, and maintenance facilities. The 60 grit designation targets medium-stock-removal passes where surface finish is secondary to material removal rate. The non-porous, vitrified bond construction handles dry grinding well and holds form under moderate heat. The white aluminum oxide composition makes it appropriate for tool steels and hardened alloys where heat-sensitive workpieces require a cooler cut than standard brown aluminum oxide wheels provide.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for bench grinders and pedestal grinders with an 8-inch wheel capacity and a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore.
Wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always ring-test the wheel for cracks before mounting and power down the grinder completely before changing wheels. Use the correct blotter washers and flanges and never exceed the wheel's stated maximum RPM. Confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed 3600 RPM before operation.
