The SYSTEM SENSOR bk-2wtab is a 2-wire photoelectric smoke detector with an integrated thermal sensor and built-in sounder. It uses photoelectric detection technology to identify slow-smoldering fires and pairs that capability with thermal sensing to broaden detection coverage. The built-in sounder provides local audible alarm output without requiring a separate notification appliance on the same circuit. This type of device is installed by licensed fire alarm technicians and electricians working on life-safety systems in residential and light commercial applications.
The bk-2wtab is suited for residential and light commercial installations where a 2-wire loop configuration is required. Its combination of photoelectric and thermal detection makes it appropriate for areas where both smoldering and fast-flaming fire signatures may be present. The built-in sounder reduces component count in installations where localized audible notification is needed at the detector head. Install locations typically include hallways, bedrooms, common areas, and other occupiable spaces per applicable fire code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install detector for 2-wire fire alarm control panel circuits requiring photoelectric smoke detection with thermal and sounder capability.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and all applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel loop circuit before connecting or disconnecting the detector base. Verify panel compatibility with 2-wire photoelectric detectors prior to installation. Test the detector and sounder function after installation using the manufacturer-approved test method before returning the system to service.
