The SOUTHWIRE L709 is a 3.5-inch chase nipple used in electrical conduit installations. Chase nipples are short threaded fittings that connect conduit to enclosures such as junction boxes, panels, and fixtures, securing the conduit entry point and providing a clean, code-compliant termination. This fitting is suited for licensed electricians working on residential and light commercial wiring systems where a reliable conduit-to-box connection is required.
The L709 is intended for standard conduit knockout applications. Its 3.5-inch length accommodates installations where additional thread engagement or clearance is needed beyond what a standard locknut fitting provides. Electricians reach for chase nipples during new construction rough-in and retrofit panel work alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use chase nipple for residential and light commercial electrical conduit installations at junction boxes, load centers, and enclosure knockouts.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the panel or enclosure before beginning work. Use appropriate conduit wrenches or pliers to seat and tighten the nipple without over-stressing the knockout. Verify thread engagement is secure before pulling conductors through the conduit.
