The SOUTHWIRE G60025-1A is a Type FPLP shielded fire alarm cable rated for 300 VAC and designed for use in plenum air-handling spaces where building codes require low-smoke, flame-retardant wiring. Part of the 341SP series, it features two 14 AWG bare solid copper conductors with LS-PVC insulation and a red LS-PVC jacket. The outside diameter measures 0.204 inches, and the cable resistance is 2.525 ohms. Rated to 75 degrees C, this cable is listed under UL 1424 and UL 1666 and complies with NEC Article 760. Licensed electricians and fire alarm system installers are the primary trades handling this product.
This cable is suited for residential and commercial fire alarm and life-safety system wiring in plenum spaces, including drop ceilings and raised flooring used as return-air plenums. Typical applications include fire protective signaling circuits, smoke detector wiring, voice communications, audio control systems, and initiating circuits. The shielded construction helps reduce signal interference in environments where multiple cable runs are installed in close proximity. Each reel contains 1000 feet of cable, making it appropriate for larger commercial installations or multi-zone residential projects.
Designed for fire protective signaling circuits, smoke detectors, voice communications, audio control, initiating circuits, and plenum space applications where Type FPLP cable is specified by code or system design.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or certified fire alarm technician in accordance with NEC Article 760 and all applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and related circuits before making any connections. Plenum-rated cable must be routed through approved plenum spaces and may not be substituted with non-plenum cable types in those areas. Verify conductor polarity and shield termination requirements with the fire alarm control panel manufacturer before completing the installation.
