The SOUTHWIRE/COLEMAN CABLE 59409WD is an outdoor wall plate photocell eye control designed to automate exterior lighting by switching fixtures on at dusk and off at dawn. It fits a standard outlet box and includes a weatherproof wall plate with a neoprene gasket, plus a nut and washer gasket for a sealed, weather-resistant installation. The built-in photo control activates with the absence of light, and a time-delay circuit prevents flickering and false triggers caused by stray vehicle headlights. Licensed electricians and experienced lighting installers are the primary trade installing this control.

This photocell control is suited for residential and light commercial outdoor lighting applications including security lighting, entryway lighting, post lamps, and pole lanterns. It is equipped with a 3/8 inch NPT pipe thread fitting and accepts a wide range of lamp types: incandescent, fluorescent, CFL, LED, halogen, mercury vapor, and high pressure sodium. No seasonal time adjustments are required, making it a low-maintenance solution for any outdoor fixture controlled from a standard wall box.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for outdoor and weatherproof installations. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel before beginning any wiring work and verify the circuit is dead with a non-contact voltage tester. The neoprene gasket and included nut and washer hardware should be seated properly to maintain the weatherproof seal. Do not exceed the load rating of the photocell control as stated in the product documentation.
