The SOUTHWIRE 68583401 is a solid-core THHN/THWN dual-rated building wire sized at 12 AWG with a 20-amp current rating and a 600-volt rating. It features PVC insulation and is available in three jacket colors: black, white, and red. This wire is designed for use in conduit runs in residential and light commercial electrical systems. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this wire during rough-in and service work. The solid copper conductor construction and dual THHN/THWN rating make it suitable for both dry and wet locations, giving installers flexibility across a range of applications.
This wire is sold in 1-foot increments with a 50-foot minimum cut length and a 250-foot total coil length per spool. It is used in branch circuit wiring for outlets, lighting, and appliance circuits rated at 20 amps or less. The three available jacket colors support standard color-coding practices in residential and commercial panel and conduit work. Typical applications include wire pulls through EMT, rigid conduit, and PVC conduit in both new construction and retrofit installations.
Designed for use in conduit-based branch circuit wiring applications rated at 600 volts or less, consistent with NEC requirements for 12 AWG solid copper THHN/THWN conductors in residential and light commercial installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. This wire is rated for use in conduit only and should not be used as open wiring or in free-air applications outside its listed rating. Verify conduit fill calculations before pulling wire to avoid exceeding allowable fill percentages.
