Product Description

The SOUTHWIRE 68579202 is a standard-profile metal clad (MC) armored cable rated for 600 volts, designed for power distribution in commercial, industrial, and residential installations. It carries two 14 AWG solid copper THHN/THWN-rated conductors insulated with PVC and nylon, enclosed in an interlocked aluminum armor jacket. The standard round profile is thicker and more rigid than low-profile MC cable, offering greater resistance to impact, abrasion, and mechanical damage. A 14 AWG copper ground conductor with green insulation is included.

This MC cable is suited for indoor power distribution runs in commercial and residential buildings where conductors need protection from physical damage. Typical applications include branch circuit wiring in walls, ceilings, and exposed conduit-free runs in commercial occupancies, as well as industrial installations in Class I Division 2 and Class II Division 2 hazardous locations. The aluminum armor provides lightweight, corrosion-resistant protection. The solid copper conductors support standard current loads for 14 AWG branch circuits per NEC Article 330.

Installation Notes

MC cable installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 330 and applicable local codes. Secure the cable with listed MC fittings and connectors at all junction boxes and enclosures.
