The SOUTHWIRE 555100423 is a 10-conductor, 18 AWG solid copper control cable rated for CMP (plenum) and CL2P applications. The cable features a low-smoke PVC jacket and is designed for use in low-voltage signal and control wiring in commercial and residential HVAC, building automation, and security systems. Each conductor is solid copper, providing stable DC resistance of 6.669 ohms per 1000 feet at 25 degrees C. The white outer jacket measures approximately 0.264 inches in overall diameter. This spool contains 250 feet of cable, suitable for extended runs in structured wiring installations.
This cable is suited for plenum-rated environments where fire and smoke propagation requirements demand CMP-classified materials. Typical applications include HVAC control wiring, building automation system (BAS) networks, access control, and low-voltage signal distribution in commercial construction. The 10-conductor configuration supports multi-zone or multi-signal runs in a single cable path, reducing conduit fill and simplifying termination. The 10 conductors are color-coded black, red, white, green, brown, blue, orange, yellow, purple, and gray for field identification.
Designed as a plenum-rated, low-voltage control cable for use in commercial and residential HVAC, BAS, and security wiring applications requiring CMP or CL2P classification.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified low-voltage technician in accordance with NEC Article 800 and applicable local codes for CMP-rated plenum cables. De-energize all connected control circuits before terminating or splicing conductors. Maintain the minimum bend radius of 1.1 inches during routing to avoid conductor damage. Do not use this cable for line-voltage power circuits.
