The SOUTHWIRE 340M is a 4-inch metallic insulated grounding bushing designed for use in electrical conduit installations. This fitting threads onto the end of rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC) to protect wire insulation from sharp conduit edges while providing a reliable grounding path. The bushing features an insulated throat that guards conductors from abrasion at entry points. Electricians install this bushing in panel terminations, junction boxes, and other locations where conduit enters an enclosure and a grounded, insulated termination point is required.
The 340M is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where 4-inch rigid or intermediate metallic conduit terminates at enclosures, switchgear, panelboards, or pull boxes. It serves as a code-compliant grounding termination fitting in applications governed by NEC requirements for conduit grounding continuity. The insulated bushing throat protects individual circuit conductors and equipment wiring from mechanical damage at the point of entry.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for 4-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit systems in commercial and industrial electrical installations.
A licensed electrician should install this bushing in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit grounding and conductor protection. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before working at any conduit termination point. Thread the bushing fully onto the conduit end before pulling conductors to ensure the insulated throat is properly seated. Do not use this bushing on conduit sizes other than the 4-inch trade size for which it is rated.
