The SOUTHWIRE 158 is a 3-inch squeeze-style connector designed for terminating flexible metal conduit (FMC) and armored cable (BX) to electrical enclosures, junction boxes, and panel knockouts. Squeeze connectors provide a secure, tool-minimized connection by compressing the fitting around the conduit or cable armor when the locknut is tightened, eliminating the need for set screws. This fitting is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where FMC or BX cable transitions into a box or enclosure. Licensed electricians and experienced electrical tradespeople are the primary installers.
The SOUTHWIRE 158 is used wherever 3-inch flexible metal conduit or armored cable must be terminated at an electrical enclosure, pull box, or panelboard. Common applications include motor connections, HVAC equipment wiring, and branch circuit runs where vibration isolation or routing flexibility is required. The squeeze-style design speeds up terminations on job sites where multiple FMC or BX connections are made in sequence.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 3-inch flexible metal conduit and BX armored cable terminations at standard electrical enclosures and junction boxes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before making any connections at the enclosure. Insert the conduit or cable armor fully into the connector body and tighten the locknut securely against the enclosure wall to ensure a solid mechanical and bonding connection. Do not over-torque the locknut to the point of deforming the enclosure knockout.
