The SOUTHWIRE 11591583 is a 50-foot coil of 12 AWG solid copper THHN building wire in green insulation. It is rated for 600 volts and 90 degrees C, making it suitable for power distribution, lighting circuits, and control wiring in residential and commercial construction. The conductor is solid copper, insulated with flame-retardant PVC and covered with a nylon jacket. That nylon jacket provides resistance to oil, gasoline, chemicals, and abrasion, extending service life in demanding conduit runs. UL listed for compliance with standard building-wire requirements.
This wire is intended for use inside conduit and raceways, as required by NEC installations in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. The green jacket color designates it as a grounding conductor in most electrical applications, making it a common choice for grounding runs in panel work, branch circuits, and equipment grounding paths. Electricians pull this wire alongside current-carrying conductors where a dedicated equipment ground is required by code.
Designed as a standard THHN-rated building wire for use in conduit and raceway systems meeting NEC requirements for 600-volt, 12 AWG grounding or general-purpose wiring installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before making any connections. THHN wire must be pulled through conduit or a listed raceway and is not rated for direct burial or exposed outdoor use without additional protection. Avoid sharp bends or edges inside conduit that could damage the nylon jacket during pulling.
