The SOUTHWIRE 11588183 is a 50-foot coil of 12 AWG solid THHN building wire rated for 600 volts and 90 degrees C. It is designed for power, lighting, and control wiring in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems. The conductor is solid copper, covered with flame-retardant PVC insulation and a nylon jacket. The nylon jacket adds resistance to oil, gasoline, chemicals, and abrasion, making it well suited for installation in conduit and raceways where wires are subject to mechanical stress. The white jacket color aids in circuit identification during installation and inspection. This wire is UL listed.
This wire is used in branch circuit wiring for outlets, lighting fixtures, and control circuits. It is appropriate for new construction and retrofit work in residential and light commercial buildings. Electricians run it through EMT, rigid conduit, PVC conduit, and enclosed raceways. The 50-foot coil length suits smaller jobs, panel feeds, and individual circuit runs where a full spool is not needed. Solid 12 AWG construction is commonly required for 20-amp branch circuits under NEC guidelines.
Designed for use in conduit and raceways as general-purpose THHN building wire for power, lighting, and control wiring in residential and commercial electrical systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before pulling, terminating, or splicing wire. Use appropriate wire-pulling lubricant when running wire through long conduit runs or bends to prevent jacket damage. Solid conductors require proper torque at terminals as specified by the device manufacturer.
