The SOUTHWIRE 1128 is a 1-1/2-inch EMT two-hole strap designed to secure electrical metallic tubing conduit to a mounting surface. Constructed from galvanized steel, this strap features a snap-on design for fast, tool-assisted installation and a reinforced rib that adds structural rigidity to the mounting point. The snap-on feature speeds up conduit runs on commercial and residential projects alike, reducing installation time on repetitive fastening tasks. Electricians rely on this type of fitting wherever EMT conduit must be anchored securely to walls, ceilings, or structural members in compliance with NEC support-interval requirements.
This strap is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where EMT conduit requires periodic support along its run. The 1-1/2-inch size fits standard 1-1/2-inch EMT conduit. It is installed by licensed electricians and apprentices during rough-in wiring phases, typically in conjunction with machine screws or sheet-metal screws driven into wood, masonry, or steel framing. The galvanized steel construction provides corrosion resistance in dry and damp-rated locations.
Designed as an OEM-style support fitting for 1-1/2-inch EMT conduit in standard electrical conduit support applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC conduit-support spacing requirements. De-energize all circuits in the work area before securing conduit straps near existing wiring. Use appropriately rated fasteners for the mounting substrate — wood screws for wood framing, masonry anchors for concrete or block, and self-drilling screws for steel framing. Do not overtighten fasteners, as this can deform the strap and compromise conduit alignment.
