The SNAPPY t27-8 is a galvanized round crimped starting collar designed to connect flexible duct to a trunk line, plenum, or register box in residential and light commercial HVAC ductwork systems. The collar measures 8 inches by 6 inches and features a factory-crimped end that allows the flex duct to slide over and seat securely. The galvanized steel construction provides corrosion resistance in attic, crawlspace, and mechanical room environments. HVAC installers and sheet metal technicians use this collar as the starting point for flex duct runs in supply and return air distribution systems.
This starting collar is suited for residential forced-air systems where flexible duct is run from a main trunk or air handler plenum to individual supply boots or registers. The 8-inch by 6-inch sizing accommodates standard flex duct transitions in both new construction and retrofit applications. The crimped end is designed to accept flex duct directly, reducing the need for additional fittings at the connection point.
Designed as an OEM-style starting collar for use with standard round flexible duct in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC ductwork systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal installer. Power down and lock out the air handling unit before beginning any ductwork connection. Secure the flex duct to the crimped end with an approved metal draw band and seal all joints with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes. Do not over-compress the flex duct inner liner when seating it onto the collar, as this reduces airflow capacity.
