The SNAPPY t27-7 is a galvanized round crimped starting collar designed to transition from a trunk line or plenum takeoff into flexible duct. The collar measures 7 inches by 6 inches and features a crimped end that inserts directly into the flex duct inner liner for a secure, low-leak connection. Sheet metal contractors and HVAC installers use this fitting when building out residential and light commercial supply-air distribution systems. The galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in typical duct environments, and the crimp profile eliminates the need for a separate reducer at the starting point of the flex run.
This collar is used in ducted forced-air systems where a 7-inch collar opening meets a 6-inch flex duct branch. Common applications include residential gas and electric air-handler supply systems, rooftop unit distribution, and package-unit supply trunks where branch takeoffs step down to 6-inch flex runs. It is suited for new-construction rough-in as well as replacement or retrofit work where an existing starting collar has failed or was never installed.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with 6-inch flexible duct connected to a 7-inch round trunk or plenum opening in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems.
Installation is performed by licensed sheet metal or HVAC technicians following applicable mechanical codes such as SMACNA duct construction standards and local HVAC ordinances. Power down the air-handling unit and verify zero airflow before securing the collar to the trunk or plenum. Seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or approved foil tape to meet duct leakage requirements. Do not overtighten draw bands on the flex duct connection, as this can collapse the inner liner and restrict airflow.
