The SIMMONS 800LF is a frost-proof yard hydrant designed for domestic water service in residential and light commercial applications. Built with a cast iron head and handle, it features a 1-piece variable-flow plunger paired with a large cushion-type seal that resists damage from debris and foreign particles. The inlet is sized at 3/4 inch NPT, and the casting is constructed from 1-inch galvanized steel pipe with a 7/16-inch galvanized pump rod. A polyester powder coat finish protects against corrosion. The overall installed length equals the bury depth plus 24 inches, making the 1-foot model well suited to shallow frost-line installations. Made in the USA.
The 800LF is intended for outdoor potable water access at residential properties, farms, and light commercial sites where a freeze-protected ground-level water supply is needed. It is installed by plumbers or skilled trade professionals in locations where the water line must be buried below the frost line. Note: this hydrant is not approved for use in California. The tamper-resistant design allows the unit to be locked in the closed position using a standard padlock or bolt inserted through the hole in the link, making it suitable for locations requiring access control.
Designed as a frost-proof yard hydrant for domestic water supply systems with a 3/4-inch NPT supply line connection. Not approved for installation in California.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the supply line and relieve system pressure before beginning any work. The bury depth must place the hydrant body below the local frost line to ensure the automatic drain feature functions correctly. Do not cap or plug the drain port, as this will defeat freeze protection and may result in pipe damage.
