The SHARKBITE ur058 is a push-fit reducing coupling designed to connect 3/4-inch pipe to 1/2-inch pipe without soldering, glue, clamps, or unions. Internal stainless steel teeth grip the pipe on insertion while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to form a watertight seal. The result is a reliable, pressure-rated joint that licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers can make in seconds. This fitting accepts copper, CPVC, and PEX pipe in any combination, making it a versatile choice for repair work, retrofits, and new rough-in. The ur058 can also be rotated after assembly to aid routing in confined spaces.
The ur058 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications wherever a transition from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch supply line is required. Common scenarios include branch takeoffs from main distribution lines, fixture supply drops, and repair sections where the existing line changes size. Because no heat or solvent is needed, the fitting is appropriate for use near existing finishes or in spaces where torch work is impractical. A compatible disconnect tool allows the fitting to be removed and reused, which is useful during rough-in phasing or when adjustments are needed after initial assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style push-fit replacement coupling compatible with 3/4-inch x 1/2-inch copper, CPVC, and PEX pipe in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, though the push-fit design is within the scope of qualified tradespeople across disciplines. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before cutting into an existing system. Cut pipe ends must be clean, burr-free, and deburred to the full insertion depth mark before pushing into the fitting. Check local plumbing codes, including applicable IPC provisions, for approval of push-fit fittings in concealed or in-slab applications before installation.
