The SGS 56444 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built to DIN 6537 specification, this Series 142P bit features a 135-degree split point, a Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) proprietary coating, and a web-thinned tip geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) diameter bit has an overall length of 3.2283 inches and a flute length of 1.7323 inches. Solid micrograin carbide construction delivers rigidity and wear resistance suitable for production drilling environments. Installed by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated equipment.
This drill bit is suited for precision hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless, cast iron, and other abrasive materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. The coolant-through design allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, making it well matched for deep-hole drilling applications up to 2.3622 inches (60.00 mm) at a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.3900 inch diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand spiral flute geometry ensures conventional chip removal in standard spindle-rotation setups.

Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the chuck or collet is properly sized for the 0.3900 inch shank diameter and that the tool is fully seated before torquing. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is appropriate for the application before initiating a drilling cycle. Proper speeds and feeds for solid carbide tooling differ significantly from high-speed steel — consult the tooling manufacturer cutting data for the specific workpiece material.
