The SGS 39131 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiN (titanium nitride), it delivers hardness and edge retention suited for production environments. The cutting diameter is 0.25 inches with a 0.75-inch length of cut, a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Variable index spacing reduces chatter during aggressive cuts. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The TiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it appropriate for use on a broad spectrum of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and heat-resistant alloys. It fits standard 1/4-inch collet chucks and tool holders common in both job shop and production settings. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
Designed for use in standard 1/4-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous, stainless, aluminum, steel, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the machine or toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before mounting. Follow shop-established feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
