The SGS 36723 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/4 inch diameter cutting profile with a 0.015 inch corner radius and four helical flutes for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The TX coating (AlTiN-series) improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. Variable index and variable helix geometry reduce harmonic vibration and chatter during aggressive cuts. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length on a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this is a short-series mill suited for rigid setups in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is intended for use in precision metalworking applications where controlled corner geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations at shoulder transitions. It is appropriate for production and job-shop environments cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The single-end configuration and right-hand cutting direction are standard for end mill holders. It is sized for use in 1/4 inch collets and compatible end mill holder systems. Typical applications include slot milling, peripheral milling, and profiling in aerospace, tooling, and general machining operations.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application extends to hard materials. Part of the SGS ZPCR series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using an end mill holder rated for the 1/4 inch shank diameter. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the manufacturer-specified pull-out depth for the holder being used. Do not use this tool for center-drilling or plunge entry — it is not centercutting.
