The SGS 31765 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.4375 inch (7/16 inch) cutting diameter with a 2 inch length of cut and a 4.5 inch overall length, classifying it in the long-reach Series 1L category. The four-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and variable index promotes efficient chip evacuation while reducing chatter. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments will find this end mill suited to both slotting and peripheral milling operations.
The SGS 31765 is appropriate for use on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual mills equipped with a straight-cylindrical shank toolholder. The long length of cut makes it effective in pockets, deep slots, and stepped features where standard-length end mills cannot reach. It is rated for use across multiple primary workpiece material categories including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and steel. The center-cutting design allows direct plunge entry as well as ramping and helical interpolation strategies.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical shank toolholders accepting a 7/16 inch shank. Suitable for compatible workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, carbon steels, and alloy steels.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before installing or removing the end mill. Confirm the toolholder bore and retention mechanism are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications to minimize tool deflection and premature wear.
