The SECURITRON -U.S. MKN2 is a narrow mortise key switch configured with a double-pole double-throw (DPDT) momentary contact action. Designed for access control and door hardware applications, it mounts directly into a mortise cutout in a door edge or frame. When the correct key is inserted and turned, the switch momentarily actuates both poles simultaneously, making it suitable for triggering electric strikes, magnetic locks, or other access control devices. Licensed locksmiths, access control technicians, and security integrators are the primary installers of this component.
The MKN2 fits narrow-style mortise applications where space constraints prevent the use of a standard-width switch body. It is commonly installed in commercial doors, vestibule entry systems, and controlled-access corridors where a keyed override or key-release function is required. The momentary DPDT configuration allows it to interface with a wide range of control panels and relay circuits without latching in the actuated position.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for narrow mortise key switch applications in commercial door hardware and access control systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed locksmith or qualified access control technician. De-energize all associated access control circuits and lock power supplies before beginning work. The mortise pocket in the door edge must be sized to match the narrow switch body dimensions. Wiring connections to the DPDT terminals should comply with applicable NEC requirements for low-voltage control circuits.
