The SANDVIK COROMANT 7910802 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn Prime series, designed for high-productivity external and internal turning operations. Manufactured to ISO code CP-A1108-L5W 4415, it features a triangular insert shape (Shape Code A) with a 6-degree relief angle and a 0.80 mm (0.0315 inch) corner radius. The insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under Manufacturer Grade 4415, optimized for wear resistance and thermal stability. Three cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation make it a cost-effective choice for CNC lathe setups. Qualified machinists and CNC turning specialists are the typical end users.
This insert is suited for machining steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material code P) and cast iron as a secondary workpiece material (ISO material code K), covering a wide range of general turning applications in job shop and production environments. The L5W chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation across moderate to heavy cutting depths. The Wiper Edge feature improves surface finish at standard feed rates, reducing the need for additional finishing passes. It fits residential, commercial, and industrial CNC turning centers where CoroTurn Prime tooling systems are in use.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn Prime toolholders that accept CP-style triangular inserts with an 11.00 mm inscribed circle and clamp or screw holding method. Verify toolholder seat and clamping style before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or insert screw torque tool as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm correct cutting edge orientation and chip breaker direction before resuming operation.
