The SANDVIK COROMANT 7100936 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R210 series face and shoulder milling cutters. It carries an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutting operations. The insert features a square shape with four cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a PM chip breaker. At grade 1130, it is suited for demanding milling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. Insert holding is by screw, and the cutting edge style is corner rounded with a 1.00 mm corner radius. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material application codes P, M, N, S, and H. It fits the SANDVIK COROMANT R210 cutter series and is identified by ANSI and ISO code R210-14 05 12M-PM 1130. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling operations in production machining environments, both in job shop and high-volume manufacturing settings. The right-hand cutting configuration and single-sided design suit standard R210 toolholders configured for conventional right-hand rotation.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT R210 series milling cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO designation R210-14 05 12M-PM 1130 confirms fitment. Insert size code is 140512.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the insert clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
