The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736104 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged under the CoroCut 1-2 series with ISO code N123G2-0300-0004-TM 3115, this insert features a 3.00 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 18.40 mm, and a positive rake geometry with a TM chip breaker. The MT-CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating delivers wear resistance and thermal stability for consistent performance across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a replacement cutting edge in compatible CoroCut 1-2 toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving, parting, and profiling operations in production turning environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard radial grooving setups. With a cutting height of 4.30 mm, a corner radius of 0.40 mm, and a depth-of-cut range covering 10.00 mm to 20.00 mm, it handles a broad range of groove depths without toolholder changes. It is a multi-use insert appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes within its rated depth range, making it a practical choice for high-mix turning work on steel, cast iron, and similar materials where controlled chip formation is required.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting G2 insert seat size. Verify toolholder seat designation before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or clamping key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to seat the insert securely without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and edge indexing procedure.
