Product Description

The ROBBJACK ST-343-12-A is a single-end corner chamfer end mill ground from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 7/8 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree chamfer angle with a chamfer width of 0.0050 to 0.0070 inches. Three right-hand helical flutes at a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and support both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators running production or job-shop work on ferrous and hard materials will find this tool suited to demanding material removal applications.

The ST-343-12-A is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium - workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It supports slotting, side milling, helical interpolation, and ramping operations. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length flute geometry and 2.5 inch overall length make it practical for close-tolerance work where reach is limited.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate for rigidity and heat resistance in hard-material cutting
  • AlTiN PVD coating extends tool life on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium
  • 45-degree chamfer angle at 0.0050 to 0.0070 inches chamfer width for consistent edge-break geometry
  • 40-degree high-helix, right-hand flute direction promotes chip flow and reduces cutting forces
  • Centercutting design enables direct plunge entry without a pilot hole
  • Supports slotting, side milling, helical interpolation, and ramping in a single tool

Compatibility

Part of the ROBBJACK ST-343 series; designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard 3/8 inch straight-bore toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.

Installation Notes

A licensed machinist or CNC operator should install this end mill. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling.
